The English Artist
During my apprenticeship as a Letterpress printer I designed, made and painted
scenery for local theatrical groups. Moving on, I became a pikeman and musketeer in an English Civil War society where I developed
skills in the Living History section as an itinerant artist.
In May 1999 I decided to start a pencil portrait business and build up a portfolio
of drawings from photographs. Within hours of completing my first picture I was fighting for my life in hospital with Acute
Pancreatitis.
Three years later in May 2002, I restarted where I left off.
When convenient, I can now also take a digital picture of the subject and
load this onto my laptop for approval by the customer.
